About G. Reynolds Sims & Associates – Debt Collectors

On Behalf of | Jan 10, 2012 | Consumer Protection

Don’t let their letter fool you that you are currently
under a “legal review” and you must act immediately.  G.
Reynolds Sims are a debt collector.  G. Reynolds Sims was
founded in 2006 and has its headquarters in Troy, Michigan.
Internet chat sites reflect a wide variety of complaints.
Many complain that they were pressured into paying because they
believed they would be sued, and would not get anything in writing
to reflect the obligation was paid despite a promise they would get
one.  Many others complain that they receive a barrage of
phone calls from them despite not being the debtor they are looking
for.  Seems that telling them that they have the wrong number
does not convince them to quit calling.    One
lawsuit was filed in the past for harassing neighbors and friends
of the person from whom they were trying to collect
money.

Is G. Reynolds Sims & Associates Calling and Harassing
You?

The
Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
provides that a debt
collector (even a lawyer acting as a debt collector) cannot engage
in any conduct, the purpose of which is to
harass or abuse
the person.   Making threats that
they do not intend to back up, calling multiple times throughout
the day, the use of obscene and profane language,  and
refusing to make a meaningful disclosure of the callers identity
are all forms of harassment under the
FDCPA
.  If debt collectors are trying to harass or abuse
you, they are violating the law and you have the right to sue
them.
