A Creditor Cannot Condition a Contract on Repayment by Electronic Transfer

Many consumers pay back creditors via autopay.  This is easiest when it is a car loan, a mortgage, or any other installment agreement where the payments are the same for a fixed number of months.  However, the option to pay via autopay or other electronic payment is the choice of the consumer.  A creditor cannot condition giving credit on having it paid back via electronic transfer.  They cannot force you to do auto pay or allow them to go into your checking account to remove funds.  If that is how you want to pay this creditor, that must be entirely up to you.
